"Yes, I believe a herd of elk." Blare instantly responded.." And I bear, but it's stale." Athena added narrowing her head, hoping Tarmo wasnt treating them like young pups.
Athena and Blare looked astonished at Tarmo, curious but amazed aswell." Were you born that way?" Blare asked curiously before Athena shoulder him with a swift flick of her ears.Blare lowered his head apologetically, at Tarmo.
" That's good!" Athena smiled before sniffing the air." Elk leads this way.." Blare had already beat his sister to the punch and was already trotting off in the elk's direction, silently.Athena shrugged her shoulders before glancing back at Tarmo then swiftly following her brother.
Blare paused, Athena had almost pounded into him as she dug her claws into the soil to regained her balance." Hoof prints." Blare's gaze centered at the ground where elk tracks were displayed in several directions at first but then as Athena's gaze swifted upwards, following them the tracks rejoined together and all led into one direction. The scent of Elk was very strong now, and Athena's mouth watered hungrily." Should we take on a buck If There Is One?" Blare Barked lowly.Athena shook her head." We Can't Risk it with just 3 Of Us.I beleive we should target the weakest one. What do you think Tarmo?" She asked him, figuring that he would know more about the lands than they 2 would.
"I think we should try to target one who stays from the herd." Tarmo sudgested. "It doesnt matter how strong it is. Up ahead, theres a large clearing where elk will sometimes stray from their herd for a bit of grass. We should wait there, and see what happens."
Athena was quite impressed by Tarmo thinking and soon nodded in agreement, followes by her brother Blare."Let's hurry then." Athena finally said before stepping aside to let Tarmo lead the way.
Tarmo nodded, and led to the edge of the clearing, hiding in the shadows. He saw a buck straying slowly from the rest of the herd, and his musles tensed.
Blare easily sensed Tarmo's movement and flicked his ear at Athena, who also paused in response her eyes narrowing until she spot the buck straying farther but was taking it's time.Athena pushed past her brother and stalked closer, her pelt mixing in with the forest colors like dryish ginger leaves. She took several steps forward, then paused, her eyes directed onto the buck to make sure it didnt catch her scent nor saw her.She then continue to stalk a few steps as a time until she got closer.
Blare licked his lips hungrily as the buck strayed farther from the herd.Blare had moved to the otherside, unnoticible while Athena was in the middle. She flicked her tail lowly, signaling that the buck was almost into attack range. And so the group waited and waited, until the buck wandered towards them unknowningly.Blare and Athena kept still as the buck moved towards Athena, then started to graze on the sidelines towards Tarmo.
Athena and Blare bolted like shadows in the flaring sun.Swift and quite movements hadn`t alerted the buck until the pair was an inch away from it.The buck swiftly turned to the pair and reared up on his hind legs, bukeling and scarring the air with It's sharp hooves.Low growls and snarls came from Athen and Blare as they circled the buck, one fake charging to direct the buck's attention while the other tried to make a quick grab of the flesh, creating a wound.
Athena then lounged at the buck's neck aswell , as it swurved it's massive head in Tarmo's direction.Blare snapped his trap like jaws on the buck's front hoof, shifting form side to side, avoiding some of it's blow and using his weight to pull the elk down.
Athena instantly rips out a chunk form the elk's massive neck before panting her way to Tarmo's side, while Blare took her place and snapped his firm jaws onto the buck's strong massive neck, hanging on with heaviness in his weight, until the buck gave up.Athena immediately grabbed Tarmo by his scruff and started to yank the wolf form udner the buck's heavy weight. With little but steady increasingly progress, she managed to get some of his body free, but the buck's weight was unbarable.Blare then started to try and pulled the elk away as it still struggled.
"Come on Tarmo, pushed." Athena breathed in Tarmo's ears as she contiunued to pull while Blare continued to drag the buck away, slowly the elk started to buck off of Tarmo and unsteadily stood up, with one leg twisted painfully. It lowered its antlers and started to pushed and thrushed Blare off but Blare didnt let go, a large snap once more and the buck weakened as it fell to it's forelegs, his nostrils flaring as Blare bit harder and tugged at the Elk's neck until it was dragged down completely.
Athena's pulse started to ring in her ears, she then lifted her head quickly and sounded an alarming and hunt howl, her howl soft and admiring, it rung loudly through the forest.Blare soon pitched in after he made sure that the buck was dead, his howl was gentle and charmingly.
" Hmm.." Athena narrowed her head, listening." They don't hear us!" Blare rasped, standing up his paws edging the soil rapidly." Tarmo how do you feel?" He asked worriedly while Athena continued to sent out the alarm to their pack, her howl more frantic and feeled with worry this time.
Tarmo padded out with Athena and Blare. "Scent anything?" he asked.

ReplyDeleteAthena pressed her flank against Tarmo's. " Don't force yourself." She warned worriedly.
ReplyDelete"ill be fine."Tarmo barked. "It was just surpirising."
